Family Special Tour

Suggested tour itinerary

The Family Special Tour comprises relaxation for adults with fun-packed action for kids. Your tour guide will ensure that all excursions and activities run smoothly, so parents should have nothing to worry about and be able to unwind and enjoy their Australian holiday experience. All accommodation and tours included in your holiday have been personally checked by Oz Talk, so the quality and planning of your accommodation is another weight off parents’ minds!

Day 1
Depart from your chosen airport aboard an overnight scheduled BA/Qantas flight for Singapore.

Day 2
On arrival in Singapore we transfer you to your beautiful 5* hotel with views of the city, ocean and harbour. Situated right on the waterfront overlooking the harbour and some of the city's historical sites. This evening we take an easy 15 minute stroll from the hotel to Boat Quay where you can enjoy a cool beer and select where to eat from the numerous waterside café’s and restaurants.

Day 3
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel followed by a city tour that takes you to the colonial heart of the city, visiting Padang and Parliament House then onto Thian Hock Keng Temple, one of the oldest Temples in Singapore. We stop at Mount Faber to take in the stunning views and call in at a local handicraft centre to really absorb the culture. Next up is the 'must-see' National Orchid Garden located within the beautiful Botanic Gardens.

The tour returns to the hotel around 2.00 pm allowing a free afternoon before the evening flight for Cairns.

Day 4
Our arrival at Cairns is early morning greeted by tropical heat. An air-conditioned coach will whisk us off to our luxury resort accommodation. Spend the day relaxing by the pool or for the more energetic, a 5-minute bus ride will take you to the centre of Cairns. A short stroll from the front entrance takes you into the adjacent Botanical Gardens.

Join us this evening for a complimentary 'Welcome to Australia' buffet. An opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers, our hosts and tour director in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Always a very popular occasion.

Day 5
Next day starts with an exciting full or half day cruise to The Great Barrier Reef aboard "The Reef Rocket" - a brand new state-of-the-art high speed catamaran - taking just 45 minutes to reach Green Island. Included in the tour is a demonstration and use of snorkeling equipment or a tour by glass bottomed boat accompanied by a marine biologist, plus a semi-submersible "submarine" tour which brings you literally face to face with the magnificently coloured sea life. Those opting for the full day tour will spend the afternoon exploring and relaxing on Green Island. The ½ day tour returns to Cairns around 12:30.

Day 6
Cairns has numerous rainforest destinations for visitors. Choosing one can be very difficult and the best known locations are not necessarily the best to visit as they can suffer from overcrowding and commercialisation. Today Oz Talk will take you to a fabulous alternative … Wooroonooran National Park. This area of unsurpassed beauty contains the two highest mountains in Queensland, numerous rivers, waterfalls, swimming holes and some of the World's lushest and most ancient rainforests. In our opinion, Wooroonooran National Park is the best way to experience the beauty and wonder of the true rainforest.

An experienced naturalist / guide will lead you through untouched wilderness free of human development on this full day tour, which includes:

  • Josephine Falls - a secluded freshwater swimming hole, hidden in the tropical rainforest. A series of small waterfalls flow into large pools surrounded by boulders. Rainforest trees hang over the water, keeping it cool and refreshing. Take the plunge down the exciting natural rockslide (life vests are provided for children).
  • Babinda Boulders - We walk to the spectacular gorge and learn of the ancient Aboriginal legend about the creation of the Boulders. Snorkel and swim in a freshwater pool (masks and snorkels provided) whilst you learn about the underwater world of freshwater fish, turtles and crustaceans.
  • Johnstone River Crocodile Farm – a close up (but safe) view of these ancient creatures, the ancestors of the dinosaurs. Hand feed kangaroos and emus, and meet the famous endangered Southern Cassowary.
  • Eubenangee Swamp - This wetland is similar to Kakadu National Park but on a smaller scale. This is bird and crocodile watching at its best! (Binoculars are provided).
  • Goldsborough Valley - the former site of a gold rush, when the most prominent sounds were the scratching of picks and shovels searching the dirt for golden morsels of wealth. This area once supported a thriving economy, including 17 motels and almost as many pubs. But now you’ll be lucky to hear anything more than the gentle washing of water over rocks and the swaying of trees. The Goldsborough Valley was once the home of the Malanbarra People. On the walk to Kearney's Falls, you will learn about Aboriginal life in this ancient upland rainforest.
  • Inisfail Grand Central Hotel – After an exciting day enjoy a well earned meal of excellent Tropical North Queensland style cuisine, dining outdoors on the balcony of Innisfail's Grand Central Hotel. This is the quintessential tropical frontier town.

Return to your resort late afternoon.

Day 7
Breakfast and day at leisure.

Day 8
Hop aboard a Skyrail Gondola & glide over the Rainforest canopy. Take a tree top walk through the rainforest to view the spectacular Barron Falls. Arrive Kuranda village for shopping & flea markets. Choose to explore the markets, visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary or colourful Birdworld. The return journey to Cairns is aboard The Kuranda Steam Railway and takes around one hour as this historical train meanders down the mountain side through the rainforest and 17 tunnels … all cut by hand by the original miners and engineers.

Day 9
